Reasons for external strategy consulting
Strategy consulting is the supreme discipline of consulting. Nowhere is it more dangerous to try to save on consulting fees than when it comes to the question of the strategic direction of the company. Two questions are central: “What are we today and what do we want to be in the future?” This is inevitably followed by the question: “What do we have to do in order to achieve the defined goals?
Our strategy consulting starts with the customer. We combine the search for new potentials as well as the elimination of existing activities. Our experience shows that many strategies fail because too much attention is paid to potential and too little to current resources and processes. We start from the customer’s jobs-to-be-done, determine the potential customer value and then identify the organizational implementation. We do not orient ourselves to industries or other companies, but only to the customers or potential customers in the respective markets. In doing so, we combine offerings, customer relationship management, brand and experiences to ensure optimal differentiation.
A second argument speaks for the involvement of an external strategy consultancy as a companion, perhaps even as a driver of the strategy process: the widespread operational blindness. The patterns of the past, so often successful, become sacred Dominant Logics that are more likely to be shaken by outsiders. If you do something rarely, you usually don’t do it well.
